Creating a New Field
 

The first step in creating a new field is selecting a field type. Select a field type from the available options and click on the 'Next' button to proceed with editing the field options. The following is an explanation of the different field types:

Standard Types
Type Description
Text Single line string of characters
Numeric   Numeric value (e.g. 100, 43.4)
Date Date value (e.g. 12-DEC-2000)
Notes Multi-line text of any characters
Sequence Number   An integer value that is incremented automatically for each newly created record

Multi Choice Types
Type Description
List Box A text field whose input is through a list box:
Radio Buttons   A text field whose input is through radio buttons:
Red
Green
Blue

Web Types
Type Description
E-Mail Link     A string that is used as an e-mail link when displayed. The user can click on this link to send email to the specified address
URL   A string that is displayed as a URL link. A user can click on this link
Image Link   A string that is used as a link to an image. When displaying this field, the image is displayed, not the link

Formula Types
Type Description
Text Formula A formula whose result is treated as text
Numeric Formula   A formula whose result is treated as a number
Date Formula A formula whose result is treated as a date

Sub-Tables
A sub-table (or nested table) is a table within a table. A sub-table is created as a new field whose type is that of the sub-table. Under this section, you will see a list of all the tables you have created. Choose one of those tables to include a sub-table.
